Hey all just wondering what are some of the strangest things you've ever been afraid of. Well some of the things I got scared of was an old sweet potato. I was still in high school and I got home from school for the weekend and went into the kitchen to get something to eat. Then I saw the old sweet potato and it had these vines growing out of it so I screamed and ran all the way to the front of the house. Then another time my mom showed me this rotten cucumber and it smelled and I freaked out and ran from her. That's all for me.

I used to have this little kitchen set with fake food, and I used to flinch every time I touched the whipped cream with a cherry on the top. lol it was pretty weird.

lmao Janelle, seaweed? I love it, mmm ... so good. lol, lets see. I'm afraid of really weird noises that can't be explained, lol. Like, noises outside my house always scare me if i don't recognize it. lol

Post 9 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 0:38:21

Well I got scared the other day when i heard something in my room. i could have sworn i was not alone that day! Then when my grandma had to come in and check what it might be, she emptied out the basket where my candy is, which is where I heard the noise originally, and she found some trash thrown in there with little scraps. we think there may have been a mouse in there! I am horrified of those things and now anything I hear in my room paranoys me!

Post 10 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 0:41:46

Also I am afraid of dogs and cars. Every time I hear a car coming it distracts me and I think it's coming at me! So when I am out alone and I have a dog on one side and cars on the other i want to scream!

Post 11 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 4:57:42

well, i used to be scared to death of chickens and things that make a loud buzzing sound. also i knew some one who was scared of birds so it was interesting when one flew over head.

Post 12 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 5:01:02

oooo! i was scared of baloons but that was because i sat on one and it went boom! seaweed is nasty stuff! and i got freeked out by a lama and a goose well lots of geese.

Post 13 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 5:11:55

everything that flies. it's the buzzing sound or the flapping of wings that really, really freaks me out. i have this weird fear of having something and then finding there's more than usual. like if i have one of something and suddenly i find 2 or more it scares me but there's a story behind this that i wont go into on here. then since a few years ago i have no idea why, i started being completely madly freaked out by any creature that came in my house unless it was my pets. even if it is a lovely kitten i always play with in the garden, if it goes in my house or verry close to it i suddenly get scared shitless of it. it was the opposite just before that, every kitten or nice creature was welcomed in my room. now just the thought makes me shiver and go dizzy

Post 14 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 5:15:44

and yeh, i too heard of someone who was scared of buttons, or of the sound of breaking eggs, but i don't find these fears so funny if i think that these people feel about these things the way i do about a huge thing buzzing around my head...

Post 15 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 7:47:24

I've been afraid of balloons ever since one popped in my face when i was little. i was just sitting there blowing it up, and next thing I knew, I heard this explosion. I only remember crying after that. lol

Post 16 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 18:13:36

Noodles, olives, feet and flowers? lmao. That's just, erm, special.
I can understand the seaweed thing Janelle, though it personally doesn't scare me.
Strange noises definitely. Pitch-bended noises too, and really weird distortions, I'm scared of. Certain high-pitched sounds, or certain bird calls, especially if I hear them at night, coming from an open dark stairway or any dark opening, or in a cave. I'm scared of fans in bathrooms and strange toilets. lol.

Post 17 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 18:19:57

Well I see what Lori means. Oh, I'm afraid of big buzzing bugs. Flapping wings does something strange to me, it hypnotizes me. I think there's something behind that but it's long, complicated, and you'd question my sanity and plus, just don't want to go in to it. I love most birds though, as long as it's a lovely nice soft one, and kittens I love, and I'm deathly afraid of anything infected. It scares me so much I might have nightmares for weeks. There's a story behind that too but... just no.

Post 18 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 15-Dec-2008 20:42:13

Well, when I was little, I used to be afraid of cameras, I hated when people took my picture. I also used to be scared of the vacuum cleaner for some odd reason. Lol I rememer always running from it and hiding in the closet until my mom was done with it.

Post 19 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Wednesday, 17-Dec-2008 16:02:47

I know a kid who was scared of the floor buffer thing. I was scared of the air compressor and the lawn mower when I was really little too. I guess that frequency of sound was freaky.

Post 20 by SunshineAndRain (I'm happily married, a mom of two and a fulltime college student.) on Thursday, 01-Jan-2009 3:41:17

I used to have a fear of those TV show captions came on. I would hear the Fox one especially and start running. Oh, and the Lion sound at the beginning of some movies scares me too. Now I'm just scared of earthquakes and I hate the sound of helecopters that fly really close to my house.

Post 21 by Mumbledore (... procrastinating again. i meant to write this days ago.) on Thursday, 01-Jan-2009 10:29:04

well, this is weird, and a bit funny. when i was in college and i used to get stoned, we used to watch this programme called planet sketch. it was a cartoon with sketches made up buy little kids. anyway there was this one where this kid had a teddy bear, and whatever the kid was doing, like eating dinner, or in school, this bear would pop up and go "huggy huggy!". and it really freeked me out for some reason. lmao

Post 22 by Sword of Sapphire (Whether you agree with my opinion or not, you're still gonna read it!) on Thursday, 01-Jan-2009 14:32:20

I'm not your typical chick at all! I'm neither afraid of mice or insects.
And thanks Janelle for referring to my behated fear of flowers. I can't stand anything with flowers, leaves, or vines. It just freaks me out.
Flowers became ugly to me when I was 2. I still had vision, and my sister had chased me around the house with this hideous, horrifying plant. It scared the shit out of me.
I then had the dream for about a month that flowers were trying to eat me. The dream still finds its way into the others occasionally. I hate those damn things!

Post 23 by Elenhiia (Feather'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr'rr for president!) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 5:56:40

I used to be afraid of some songs--Closer by Nine Inch Nails being one, rofl. I was afraid of the MASH music when I was tiny, lmao, and the Star Trek music, I got over that when I was about 5. What was scary about it was that it either seemed scarily happy or scarily... fakely... oh, I don't know... I really can't explain what I mean, but music has always had... so much power for me and when I was little I couldn't handle it sometimes. Dunno if that makes sense, but anyway...

Post 24 by HotPerro (I live and breathe the board) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 18:31:06

Oh Janelle, once, while spongeing around at the beach, I got wrapped in to a gigantic pile of seaweed. It was probably about 3 feet deep, and about 10 yards long, of just seaweed. Took me a few minutes to get out of there. That's not as creepy as stepping on sting rays though, I've done that a couple times, fortunately without consequences.

When I was little, I used to be scared shitless of our fan. It was just a regular stand up fan, but when people would turn it on, I'd freak out to no end. I also remember being stoned and listening to The wall, from pink Floyd, and freaking out at a couple of their songs. It's that one on the second disc, that's all "is there anybody out there?" Also that one that sounds like a musical, near the end of the same disc, I was trippin hard core.

Yeah, pot'll do that to ya. Yeah, I used to be scared of certain songs too. It's funny 'cuz the MASH song scared me too when I was little, and Heat of the Night and Married with Children's theme when it ends so suddenly. I was obsessed with the Jeopardy theme song, I loved it! Lol. And like I said before those little icon type tunes they play at the end of TV shows gave me nightmares.

When it's quiet, and there's nobody around me, I get quite nervous. Strange mysterious sounds in my room scared me. When I was 12, me and a friend were in a bathroom at this restaurant alone. The heater, or some kind of fan would come on and blow. Then, it went off, a few seconds after it came on. The fan came back on. Me and my friend were getting quite worried, and we decided to get out of there before anything could happen. It was a very small bathroom btw. When I first got skype, I was a little freaked out by the strange noise coming from my computer. I thought something terrible had gone wrong. After I looked into the problem, I realized that I was getting a skype call. To this day, when I hear a strange beeping, I always listen closely, to see if it is my computer. It's because of a nightmare, that I won't go into here.

I'm scared of elavator/automatic doors.

Post 28 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Saturday, 17-Jan-2009 23:35:55

I was scared of:
Deflating balloons (I hated the feel)
Mud (I am a clean freak)
Stoves (Um, Hot, I am still afraid of hot machines)
And I am still afraid of animals, especially dogs.

Elevator doors make me nervous, since one closed in on me once. Escalaters scare me the most. My balance is so bad, I'm afraid of falling.
